Further to the Common Fisheries Policy Reform, presented by Maria Damanaki, the EU Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Astec Aquaculture welcomes the EU’s recognition of the importance of developing ecologically viable aquaculture as part of its proposals to manage fish stocks.
The EU report states that "a better framework for aquaculture will increase production and supply of seafood in the EU, reduce dependence on imported fish and boost growth in coastal and rural areas."
