Donegal Silver was first launched in 1986, and since that tie has become regarded as a sign of consistent quality from a trusted source.
The first harvest of Atlantic salmon took place in 1984 from young salmon known as “smolts” put to sea in 1982.
These very first smolts were imported directly from Norway by air and trucks, while subsequently suitable stocks continued to be imported as fertilised ova (eggs).
By the year 1986 the company became self sufficient as its own broodstock was fully established.
Since then the company has grown and today we export 80% of our product to countries all around the world, USA, France, Germany, Switzerland and Many more....and we continue to grow!
This year we won The Seafood Exporter of the Year award 2010!
