Jail Island is a real island located in Atlantic Canada in Lime Kiln Bay. Local lore tells us in the late 1800’s when visiting ships would pass through the bay, disorderly sailors would be put ashore by the ship’s captain. Once sober, the sailors would then be chartered back through the fast moving waters of the bay and reunited with their crew.
Wholesome local food. A healthy environment. A living wage. These are the very real needs of Atlantic Canadians that Jail Island Seafood was created to help satisfy. It gives Atlantic Canadians a source for fresh, wild seafood that is responsibly and locally caught. Our measure of responsibility maintains that environmental, economic and social issues are connected.
Jail Island Seafood is wholly owned by A. C. Covert and is exclusively available through its approved distributors. We are first and foremost, seafood lovers.
