Prices

The future price for 3 to 6 kg for October is NOK 56.20 (EUR 5.94/kg), while that for November and December is expected to reach NOK 64.00 and 66.80 (EUR 6.76 and 7.04).

During week 39, the average price of fresh salmon was NOK 59.15 (NOK 6.25/kg). This price is down 2% on that of the previous week and up 3% on that of the same week in 2017. Regarding the same week in 2016, it is up 7% in value, according to Norwegian Statistics. The weekly FOB price of fresh salmon exports (HS 03121201 y 03121202) at Norwegian Customs averaged NOK 62.22/kg (EUR 6.57/kg), down 3% on that of the same period in 2017 and up 5% on that of 2016.

The average price of exports of frozen salmon was NOK 56.92 (EUR 6.01/kg), down 8% on that of the previous week and 4% on that of the same week in 2017; it was also down 3% on that of 2016. So far this year, the average price of frozen salmon exports has been NOK 58.56 (EUR 6.18/kg), down 11% in value on that of the previous year and up 4% on that of 2016.

Markets

Exports of fresh salmon during the analysed week reported 19,344 tonnes. This figure is up 9% on that of the previous week and similar to that of the same week in 2017 and on that of the same week in 2016. So far this year, exports of salmon registered 645,822 tonnes, up 8% in volume on that of the same period in 2017 and 9% on that of 2016.

Exports of frozen products during the week reported 308 tonnes. This figure is up 28% on that of the previous week and down 47% on that of the same week in 2017; it was also down 51% on that of the same week in 2016. During the year, exports of frozen salmon reached 13,260 tonnes, down 14% on that of the same period in 2017 and 28% on that of the same period in 2016.
