Prices

The future price for 3 to 6 kg for July is NOK 62.40 (EUR 6.58/kg), while that for August and September is expected to reach NOK 59.80 and 57.50 (EUR 6.29 and 6.05).

During week 25, the average price of fresh salmon was NOK 61.70 (6.53/kg). This price is down 5% on that of the previous week and 11% on that of the same week in 2017. Regarding the same week in 2016 it is down 8% in value according to Norwegian Statistics. The weekly FOB price of fresh salmon exports (HS 03121201 y 03121202) at Norwegian Customs averaged NOK 64.82/kg (EUR 6.86/kg) so far in 2018, down 3% on that of the same period in 2017 and up 10% on that of 2016.

The average price of exports of frozen salmon was NOK 67.02 (EUR 7.09/kg), down 3% on that of the previous week and on the same week in 2017. It was up on that of 2016. So far this year, the average price of exports of frozen salmon reached NOK 57.69 (EUR 6.10/kg), down 15% on that of the previous year and up 9% on that of 2016.

Markets

Exports of fresh salmon during the analysed week reported 16,297 tonnes. This figure is down 2% on that of the previous week and up 19% on that of the same week in 2017; it was also up 18% on that of the same week in 2016. So far this year, exports of salmon registered 393,936 tonnes, up 9% on that of the same period in 2017 and 7% on that of 2016.

Exports of frozen products during the week reported 268 tonnes. This figure is down 8% on that of the previous week and 38% on that of the same week in 2017; it was also down 40% on that of the same week in 2016. During the year, exports of frozen salmon registered 7,521 tonnes, down 29% on that of the same period last year and down 40% on that of the same period in 2016.
