The average CIF price of frozen bluefin (HS 030345000 and 030346000) imported by Japan in August was JPY 1,390/kg, down 2% on that of July and up 3% on that of August 2017. During the eight months of the year, the average was JPY 1,438/kg, up 9% on that of the same period in 2017. In August, Japan received 3,578 tonnes sent by Australia at an average price of JPY 1,390/kg.

Markets
During the month analysed, imports registered 3,579 tonnes of frozen bluefin, worth almost JPY 4,974 million at Japan Customs, up 328% in volume and 319% in value on those of August 2017.

During the period, imports reached 4,941 tonnes worth JPY 7,104 million, up 2% in volume and 11% in value on those of the same period in 2017.

During the first eight months of the year, Australia sent 4,396 tonnes of frozen bluefin to Japan, worth JPY 6,140 million.
