The NetRobot brushes the net 24/7 and prevents the fouling from settling.

NetRobot Keeps Nets Free from Fouling

  (NORWAY, 2/5/2019)

Mørenot is launching NetRobot, a net fouling cleaning robot. NetRobot is quiet and works continuously so that fouling organisms are not allowed to settle on the net. The brushing process is gentle both on the net and on the fish.

The fish shows no sign of stress when a NetRobot is working, therefore will not cause a reduction in the feed intake, and a healthy growth rate can be maintained.

NetRobot is designed to brush all types of nets. The robot must be checked daily in order to ensure optimal function. This will help to keep the net clean at all times and keep the fish healthier.

The NetRobot keeps the net free from biological and other kinds of fouling.

Mørenot Robotics has tested the NetRobot at many aquaculture facilities with different types of nets. The experience shows that it is necessary to adjust the power of the robot’s horizontal and vertical thrusters to achieve optimal effect on each type of net.

Fouling on aquamarine nets follows the same cycle as the rest of nature – the organisms start to grow in spring and continue growing through the summer and autumn. When the seawater gets warmer, the amount of fouling increases, and it may become necessary to jet down the nets every two weeks.

Jetting dislodges the fouling, and the organisms then float freely inside the cage – and this affects the fish. Frequent jetting of nets also increases wear and tear and the risk of damage to the net.

The NetRobot is designed to brush all types of nets.

The NetRobot brushes the net 24/7 and prevents the fouling from settling – the underlying principle is the same as for a robot lawn mower.

Mørenot Robotics is based in Bodø and became part of the Mørenot group in 2018. The NetRobot allows the company to provide customers with complete net solutions that reduce overall costs and help to rationalize aquaculture and improve fish health.
