Delicious Handcrafted Salmon Skin Crisps
(UNITED KINGDOM, 8/14/2019)
Sea Chips are the UKs first handcrafted salmon skin crisps, using the often wasted nutrient packed skin.
Sea Chips was created by Dan Pawson and Dom Smith. They came up with Sea Chips when they were working in restaurants, and discovered that the majority of salmon skin was being thrown away – despite its nutritious and protein-packed properties.
“What started as an observation soon turned into a business idea, with a solution to a problem… we began to create the 100% natural product, taking inspiration from the popularity of fish skin crisps in Asia,” says Dan.

“After starting out trialling our new idea in my garage and after hours in restaurant kitchens, we sourced our own kitchen unit. We then teamed up with an experienced team with a solid background in the fishing industry and manufacturing fish products, and began our journey to bring Sea Chips to the market. Sea Chips was already gaining traction in the food industry, and we were quickly snapped up by Fenwicks, Harrods, and Whole Foods Market, to kick us off.”

Handcrafted salmon skin crisps: all natural and gluten free. |
Sea Chips was born out of a passion to share great tasting snacks. The company has developed into a business that offers high protein and omega 3 packed crisps that represents more than just a new healthy snack, every decision Dan and Don make follows their strong belief of not only being good for you but good for the planet.
Whilst they were sourcing the salmon skins, the fishmongers would told them they'd usually throw the skin away, they soon discovered that almost half of all seafood that’s caught is thrown away. Dan and Don decided to address this by using the usually wasted nutrient packed skin to make their crisps.
