Rianxeira Launches New Line of Sustainable Canned Tuna

Spanish company Grupo Jealsa Rianxeira is taking great strides in its commitment to sustainability. The Galicia-based company recently launched a new line of 100% sustainable canned tuna.
The company’s tuna bears the blue label, which only applies to wild, traceable fish from fisheries certified to the MSC Fisheries Standard, which is a set of sustainable fishing requirements.

Other examples of innovation by the company include the use of just a touch of oil or mineral water in its canned products, which helps them retain their flavor, and they’re also using top-flight organic ingredients as part of their commitment to the environment.
New, recently-launched products include MSC-certified light tuna with organic sunflower oil and fleur de sel, with organic extra virgin olive oil and fleur de sel, with mineral water and fleur de sel, in brine; pole and line caught light tuna with organic extra virgin olive oil and fleur de sel, pole and line caught MSC-certified bluefin tuna with olive oil and a pinch of sea salt, salmon with a pinch of salt, and mussels.
Rianxeira tuna meets the most demanding quality standards and the most rigorous sustainability certification at a global level.
In related news, the company redesigned its packaging and recently received a prestigious 2019 Pentawards Silver distinction. The new packaging features a very clean-looking label and a list of ingredients, an effort to offer consumers greater transparency. The new packages are 100% recyclable.
