The chewable tablets contain up to 40% of fish oil.

Vitux AS Achieves Friend of the Sea's Certification for its Soft Chews

  (NORWAY, 12/12/2018)

Norwegian nutraceutical manufacturer Vitux AS achieves Friend of the Sea's certification for its soft chews produced according to patented ConCordix technology. The chewable tablets contain up to 40% of fish oil extracted from European anchovy, European sardine, Anchoveta, Atlantic herring, Chub mackerel and Cod.

Friend of the Sea's standard for sustainable fish feed, fish meal, fish oil and Omega-3 certifies that the oil originates only from fisheries compliant with Friend of the Sea’s sustainable fishing requirements and that a full chain of custody is in place throughout the supply and production chain.

The Soft chews are designed to maximise the comfort of taking food supplements.

Vitux SA is a third-party manufacturer providing private label products for the nutraceutical and dietary supplement industry. The organisation is established in Oslo with a manufacturing site in Andenes, Norway. The break-through ConCordix technology was developed in close collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) at Trondheim starting in the mid-2000s and commercialised over the last few years. After a series of expansions and divestitures, including businesses in Norway, Finland and Germany, Vitux has been solely focusing on soft chews from 2017 onwards.

“Several customers of ours require the Friend of the Sea certification for their products. Based on this, we had an internal discussion about our responsibility and the business we are in and decided we will develop our grounding strategy in a sense of wider societal purpose later this year” declares Erlend Restad, Head of Quality at ConCordix.

The patented ConCordix technology was developed in close collaboration with the Biopolymer Institute of Norwegian University of Science and Technology at Trondheim.

"We are particularly glad that Vitux, such an important player in the global market which stands out already for its innovative production, has decided to make a significant move towards environmental sustainability” comments Paolo Bray, Director of Friend of the Sea.

Final products and brands carrying the Friend of the Sea seal of approval are the following: Cawells Omega-3 Junior, Midsona Eskimo-3 Kids, Chewable DHA+, Eskimo-3 Bright Kids, Natural Eskimo-3 Omega-3 (Bulgaria), Norsan Omega-3 Kids’ Jelly, Pileje – Biane Enfant, Suomen Bioteeki – Omega Junior, Verman Minisun Omega-3 and Minisun Omega-3 Junior.
