AquaChile ensures it did not experience salmon escape in Quellon
(CHILE, 7/18/2018)
AquaChile reported that last Friday, July 13, a strong environmental condition in the area of Quellón, province of Chiloé, Los Lagos region, caused damage to the farming structures of its "Punta Pelú" centre.
The company said that the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (SERNAPESCA) inspected the facilities three times and it ruled out the escape of fish and found that the company has complied with current regulations and activated the necessary action plans.
"During all this time we have monitored and maintained the safety standards of all personnel who have participated in this operation," the company said in a statement.
"Fortunately there was no salmon escape, which was proved by the Navy and SERNAPESCA, what happened was damage to the infrastructure of the pontoons and footbridges, but not to the nets," said Economy SEREMI Francisco Muñoz.
