The World Aquaculture Society is planning to re-launch its journal,
the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society for its triennial meeting,
Aquaculture 2016, that will be held February 22-26, 2016, in Las
Vegas, Nevada, USA. The re-launch of the Journal will include re-
structuring the Journal to create three sections (new science with
potential to lead to either new aquaculture businesses or improved
efficiency of existing aquaculture businesses, technological advances
ready for adoption by aquaculture businesses, and review papers of
critical and timely topics in aquaculture), a new cover design, and a
re-structuring of the editorial board.
Nominations are now open for the editorial board, both for three paid
section editor positions and to serve as members of the editorial
board. Summaries of expectations and nomination forms for both
can be found on the web site of the World Aquaculture Society
(www.was.org) or by contacting the editor, Dr. Carole Engle, at
cengle8523@gmail.com.
The editorial board will include a mix of the fundamental types of
expertise that contribute to aquaculture science (i.e. nutrition &
feeding, fish health, water quality, genetics & breeding, physiology,
husbandry, environmental science, social science, etc.), of species
expertise (including major aquaculture species of shrimp, salmon,
tilapia, shellfish, catfish, trout, seaweeds, live larval feeds, etc.),
global representation, and of those working in broad thematic areas
with implications for growth and development of aquaculture (i.e.
climate change, biodiversity, sustainability, food safety,
epidemiology, etc.).
