Growing interest in climate-smart, sustainable agriculture has helped bring
closed-loop systems like aquaponics to prominence. Despite increased interest
in aquaponics, expert-led training opportunities are few and far between. With
this in mind, the United States Aquaculture Society, Iowa State University and
Kentucky State University have teamed up to host a full-day event.
Statistics in Aquaculture: The General Linear Model - a Unifying and Simplifying
Theme of Statistics
Date: February 19, 2018
Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Cost: $300 - non-USAS members, $150 - USAS or AFS-FCS members and $75
- USAS and AFS-FCS student members.
People in scientific fields have heard a litany of statistical terms: regression, t-
test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, mixed-effects, multi-factor ANOVA, multiple regression,
repeated measures, nested effects, logistic regression, and so on. With so
many different tests, it’s no wonder that students and scientists alike can be
overwhelmed and confused by even relatively basic statistics. However, all
these tests are just different forms of the general linear model. By learning
these statistical tests within the unifying framework of the general linear model,
understanding – and more importantly utilizing – those statistics becomes
infinitely easier.
Registration for the Advanced Aquaponics Workshop or the Statistics in
Aquaculture Workshop can be completed on the World Aquaculture Society
