Message:
The Board of WAS-APC wish all a Happy New Year 2018, and thank all our
partners and supporters for their continuous support and fruitful cooperation to
make the Annual Conference and Exposition of Asian-Pacific Aquaculture a
success. WAS-APC together with NTOU is organizing the #APA18 ASIAN
PACIFIC AQUACULTURE 2018.
The International event will be hosted at the Taipei International Convention
Center (TICC) from April 23 to 26, 2018 (Taiwan). The first plenary speaker will
be Dr. Ching Fong Chang, President of NTOU and co-chair of APA18. His
presentation will be the opportunity to introduce the conference theme
“Aquaculture innovation, sustainability and food safety” to all APA18
participants.
Ching-Fong Chang is a distinguished Professor and the President of the
National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU). Under the leadership of the former
presidents and through all the faculty and staff members’ efforts, National
Taiwan Ocean University strives to be one of the most outstanding universities
of Ocean Studies both in Taiwan and in the world. The University has
transformed herself into a comprehensive university and is recognized in
teaching, research and social services.
It was awarded as one of the World Top 400 universities by The Times Higher
Education (THE) in 2011.
The second plenary speaker is Dr. Wang Qingyin, President of the China
Fisheries Society, and Senior Researcher at the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research
Institute, CAFS, China. The title of his presentation is “Green Development--A
Rational Approach to Sustainable Aquaculture” “It is well known that China has
achieved great progress in the field of aquaculture in the past three decades,
but many problems or challenges are forcing the industry to search for more
scientifically developing approaches for a sustainable development. Dr Wang
hopes to take this opportunity to present some new progresses in this aspect. “
WANG Qingyin is the President of the China Fisheries Society, senior
researcher and former Director General of Yellow Sea Fisheries Research
Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences(CAFS). He has been working
on genetics and breeding of maricultural organisms and maricultural
technologies since the early 1980s’, especially on the selective breeding and
genetic improvement of new varieties with traits such as faster growth rate and
disease resistance in farming shrimps. He has published over 260 peer-
reviewed articles and 20 books as chief editor on breeding and mariculture
relevant themes. His research achievement “The breeding of ‘Huanghai No. 1’
new variety of shrimp Fenneropenaeus chinensis and healthy farming
technology” was awarded as the second class prize of National Science
&Technology Invention Award of China in 2007, and over 10 achievements
were awarded as province/ministry level science and technology progress
award.
We are inviting all international aquaculture experts from industry, academia
and governments to participate in this exceptional event.
