Detailed Selling Lead Description

Subject: 2017 will be a record year for Scantrol trawl systems

Message:

Scantrol is experiencing an increasing demand for the Autotrawl system
this year. Already during the first half of the year the company has
received orders for more than 30 systems.

–There is a boom for both building new fishing vessels and for
upgrading existing vessels at the moment and we are delighted to be a
recognized supplier of the controls for some of the major fishing
companies in the world. So far this year we have received orders for
more than 30 systems and this will turn out to be a record year for
Scantrol in the Fishery market, says Øyvind Hansen, Business
Development Mananger for Fishery and Marine Research.

Focusing on user value

Over the last two years Scantrol has had a strong focus on the Fishery
market. Today there are more than 500 fishing vessels using Scantrol
systems. User value is the essence of the design philosophy and
feedback from the users are crucial to improve the system continuously.
Functions in Scantrol iSYm shall benefit within cathing efficency, fuel
savings and in taking better care of the fishing gear.

–Our focus has always been to only add functionality that has a
valuable benefit for the users. Functionality of Scantrol iSYM is
developed in close collaboration with experienced skippers and fishing
companies. Based on a market research we did last year, the flexibility
of the use of trawl sensors was highlighted as one of the most
important factors when choosing control system. We immediately
started to expand the functionality with interface to other sensors like
Marport. This means that the skipper can now use both Scanmar and
Marport signals for the symmetry control.

Boom for Pair trawl systems and iSYM upgrades

– The trend for newbuilds is larger fishing vessels with electrical
winches. The share of electrical winches has increased significantly
related to hydraulic winches. There is also a huge interest for pair
trawling in today’s market and the number of systems in use is
growing. We are also experiencing a boom for upgrades of existing
systems. Scantrol can supply upgrade solution for all Autotrawl models
in the market. Upgrade to Scantrol iSYM is a cost-efficient way to give
existing vessels benefit of the latest trawl control functionality on the
market, explains Hansen.
Scantrol has also received orders for 10 research vessels this year to
Canada, South-Korea and Scandinavia.

–Marine Research is an important market for us and we are proud to
say that Scantrol iSYM is providing the possibility of standardize
research sampling hauls. Marine research scientists are very concerned
about repeatability of the catching performance of their trawl gear. To
achieve good repeatability, it is important to maintain the geometry of
the net as constant as possible. With Scantrol iSYM the scientists will
have good control of the net geometry in all situations independent of
tides and weather conditions, says Hansen.
