This position reports directly to the Executive Director
Position Description
Responsible for communications and public relations for Alaska’s official seafood
promotion arm. Develop, administer and execute communications program
including communication with the Alaska seafood industry, Alaska policy makers,
media representatives and the public to expand awareness of and support for the
Alaska seafood industry, Alaska Seafood products, branding and quality
assurance efforts and the agency’s available resources. Perform strategic
planning, program development, budget oversight, and program execution.
Requires strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills for speaking
engagements, seafood industry relations, media relations, press interviews, public
relations activities, preparation of publications, trade show planning and
participation, and contract development and oversight. Develop and maintain
agency relationships with organizations and individuals in the Alaska seafood
industry sector, the Alaska business community, conservation community, and
local, state and federal government. Work closely with the director and
fiscal/administrative officer on agency budget submission, function as legislative
liaison, and monitor legislation. Coordinate with U.S. and international marketing
staff to advance ASMI mission to raise the economic value of Alaska’s seafood
harvest.
