"
Europol coordinates worldwide the investigations and police procedures on this case
This is how the Central Operative Unit is expressed in relation to this police agent who appears in different interventions with some of the bluefin tuna sector businessmen, implicated in this plot that is being investigated by the National Court in the framework of the "Tarantelo operation".
More than 80 businessmen and distributors of bluefin tuna are charged in this case that has been dragging for two years and that confirms how the mandatory documents for the sale of this fish were systematically falsified, considering as good and legal a tuna that in fact had been captured from contraband.
The agent in question was expedited and temporarily removed from the service because of this investigation. In several telephone interviews, dated during the month of June 2018, the suspect agent, to whom different defendants addressed as "Jordi", shows its connection with this plot, to the point that it lends itself to providing information on assumptions Police follow-ups of some of the imputed businessmen.
The telephone intervention shows no signs of paying bribes, but the UCO of the Civil Guard, in its main report, warns that the "Jordi" contest is being the capital for the development of allegedly fraudulent activities and that they are investigated in the framework of the "Tarantelo operation".
