Congalsa invests EUR 4.8 million in factory 4.0 project

A new industrial technological innovation project will use data analysis, cybersecurity, IoT and video analytics technologies to implement an intelligent factory model
Seafood company Congalsa and the Galician Center of Telecommunications Technology (Gradiant) will develop Congals4.0, a large industrial technological innovation project to work on a new smart factory model in the Galician food sector, which will demand an investment of EUR 4.8 million.
The project will incorporate technologies of Data Analytics, IoT (internet of things), cybersecurity and analytical video to advance digital transformation and the industry connected to the Galician food sector, consolidating Gradiant's experience in the implementation of flexible 4.0 manufacturing model , sustainable and safe in the industrial ecosystem of Galicia.

Congalsa explains that, in general, its objective is to develop a more flexible, automated, social, collaborative, connected and intelligent factory that responds quickly and even allows anticipating market demand with criteria of sustainability, transparency and customization. A task that will be specified in the achievement of the following specific goals:
- Design and development of a business 4.0 in which all processes will be interconnected, converging productive processes with those of management and with any process defined in the Congalsa value chain.
- Digitization - Implementation of technologies and standards that allow the extraction and analysis of information in real time.
- Development of new data analysis techniques aimed at improving decision making.
- Cybersecurity - Implementation of mechanisms to detect and minimize risks.

At present, Congalsa has three factories, with a production capacity of 26,000 tons per year and with more than 50,000 cubic meters of cold stores.
The Congals4.0 project is co-financed by the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry and the Galician Innovation Agency -through the 2nd edition of the Industrias do Futuro 4.0 program - Intelixente Factory 2019-, and has the support of the European Fund of Regional Development (ERDF) within the framework of the FEDER Galicia 2014-2020 Operational Program.
