From July 6 to 12, wholesale prices for frozen fish in the domestic market mainly continued to decline

In the Far East, for a week from July 6 to 12, under the influence of unstable internal and external demand, prices for pollock fall (-2.6% from the beginning of the week; -35.3% from the beginning of the year) and cod (-3.4% and - 22.2%, respectively). Prices for Pacific herring and flounder have remained unchanged. At the same time, the first batches of salmon are becoming more expensive in the region, but this is due to the initial stage of pricing, the situation may change.
In the North-West, countries are getting cheaper due to the world market conditions and weak demand from processors for the bulk shipments of cod (-5%; -26.9%) and haddock (-2.3%; -29%). Prices for other types of frozen fish were stable or declining.
In the Central regions, due to unrealized balances and a seasonal decrease in consumer demand, the prices for Atlantic herring (-2.9%; -15.4%) and pink salmon decreased. Prices for other types of frozen fish remained virtually unchanged.
Retail prices for frozen fish are also declining. Between June 29 and July 6, 2020, the average consumer price level for unrefined frozen fish decreased by 0.3%, and compared to the beginning of the year, retail fish fell by 0.5%.
In January-March 2020, compared with the same period of the previous year, the volume of export of fish and seafood increased by 2.7%, its value increased by 2.6%. Average contract prices for the main export position, frozen fish, increased by 5.5%.
At the same time, the volume of imports decreased by 2.1%, its value increased by 5.0%. Average contracted import prices for chilled fish increased by 3.2%, frozen fish by 11.9%, and fillet decreased by 1.9%.
