77% of the total imports of small octopus from Vietnam

In September 2021, frozen small octopus imports amounted to 1,970 tons, down 24% from 2,603 tons a year earlier.

In September this year, the cumulative import volume was 20,440 tons, an increase of 6% from 19,268 tons a year earlier.

The average import volume in September for the six years from 2016 to 2021 was 2,102 tons, therefore the 1,970 tons of September 2021 show a drop of 6%.

In September this year, five major exporters of frozen small octopus were Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.

77% (15,807 tons) of total supplies were imported from Vietnam, followed by 3,817 tons from Thailand, 520 tons from Indonesia, 139 tons from Malaysia, and 129 tons from China.

The average import unit price by country was the highest in Thailand USD 7.65/kg, Vietnam USD 6.60/kg, and China USD 4.76/kg the lowest.

In September 2021, frozen small octopus imports amounted to USD 13.95 million, down 16% from USD 16.67 million a year earlier.

The average import unit price in September was USD 7.08/kg, up 10% from USD 6.41/kg in the previous year.
