On Friday, May 19, shrimp fishing began in waters of national jurisdiction, after the Fisheries Coordination Directorate authorized the opening of the zone located between parallels 45º to 47º South latitude.

Although there were no data on INIDEP report, fishery sector sources informed Mar&Pesca that there was a large abundance of shrimp with a low presence of hake in the three subareas, and sizes with a percentage of 40 per cent of L1, 25 per cent L2, 25 per cent L3 and 10 per cent L4.
According to the control system exhibited by the Undersecretariat of Fisheries of the Nation, some 58 vessels were concentrated in statistical quadrants 4563 and 4663 during the first hours of the harvest.
