On Friday, February 15, the fishing ban during the breeding period of the black arks (Anadara tuberculosa) will start in the country, announced the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE).
Black ark (Anadara tuberculosa)
The prohibition of the harvest, landing and/or transportation, retention, transformation and trade of this resource, which inhabits only the mangroves of the Tumbes region, will be in force until March 31, 2019.
In that sense, Minister Raúl Pérez-Reyes urged fishermen, marketers, cooks and consumers in general to respect the ban to allow the black ark to reproduce and ensure its availability at the table of Peruvians the rest of the year.
This ban is endorsed by Ministerial Resolution No. 014-2006-PRODUCE. Therefore, the natural and legal persons that harvest, land, transport, retain, transform, commercialize or use the banned resources will be sanctioned according to the General Fishing Law and other legal provisions in force.
