The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) has authorized the start of the second fishing season for anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and long-nose anchovy (Anchoa nasus) in the northern-central area of Peru (in the maritime area between the northern end of the maritime domain of Peru and 16°00' LS).

According to ministerial resolution No. 504-2018-PRODUCE, fishing may begin on November 15 (the fourth business day after the publication of said resolution in the official newspaper El Peruano, on Saturday, November 10).
To authorize fishing, the Ministry took into account that "the anchovy breeding indicators in the northern-central region show that the main winter-spring spawning period reached its highest intensity in October 2018", making it possible "to start with the capture activity in the region."

The season will conclude when the maximum total allowable catch limit in the Northern-Central Zone (MTACL North-Centre) is authorized, or failing that, when recommended by the Institute of Marine Affairs of Peru (IMARPE) due to environmental or biological circumstances.
The catch limit was set at 400,000 tonnes. This quota is temporary and may be caught in the area between the northern tip of the Peruvian maritime domain and 10°00' LS, for a period not exceeding ten calendar days, counted from the start of the second season.
