The National Society of Industries - through its Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture - denounced the start of coercive collection against three fishing companies carried out by the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) although the owner of the sector apologized for mistakes made regarding the collection of arbitrary and illegal sanctions.
In particular, PRODUCE tapped the bank accounts of fishing companies Produmar, Peruvian Seafood and Pacific Freezing Company, said the president of the Committee of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Carlos Milanovitch, according to Gestion.
To date, he added that there have been coercive collections amounting to PEN 20 million (USD 5.9 million) to 12 fishing plants in Paita (Piura).
Milanovitch recalled that this situation occurs without taking into account that the minister said that they were going to stop these coercive collections for the sanctions imposed in 2011 because they were arbitrary and illegal, promising a solution to this issue.
"So far, not only does the offer to allow companies to benefit from the profit obtained by the fishmeal sector to cancel these unfair fines, but PRODUCE officials, are performing the coercive collections from the bank accounts of the companies, producing their financial collapse," he said.
He recalled that President Martín Vizcarra and Prime Minister César Villanueva are making efforts to encourage production, increase employment and encourage investment in the country.
"But the companies that generate more than 150,000 jobs, which sustain the production of canned and frozen products in the country and that are making heavy investments for their growth, pursue and collapse with arbitrary rules and collections of sanctions that the same minister Pérez - Reyes recognizes that are arbitrary," he said.
