Fresh salmon export price drops slightly yoy

In week 10 the average fresh salmon price was NOK 72.45 (EUR 7.36/kg). This price was 10 per cent higher than that in the previous week and 7 per cent higher than that in the same week in 2018. Compared to the same week in 2017, it has grown 24 per cent in value, according to Statistics data from Norway. The weekly average FOB price at customs in Norway of fresh salmon exports (HS 03121201 y 03121202) in 2019 reaches an average price of NOK 62.33/kg (EUR 6.33/kg), which is 5 per cent higher than that in the same period in 2018 but 7 per cent lower than that in 2017.

The average frozen salmon export price was NOK 57.43 (EUR 5.83/kg), which represents a 3 per cent drop compared to that in the previous week and a 7 per cent growth compared to that in the same week in 2018, which is 14 per cent lower than that in 2017. Throughout the year, the average price of frozen salmon exports reaches NOK 60.19 (EUR 6.11/kg), which is 13 per cent higher in value compared to that in the previous year but 14 per cent lower than that in 2017.

Markets
Fresh salmon exports during the week reached 14,387 tonnes. This figure is 5 per cent lower than that in the previous week and 9 per cent lower than that in the same week in 2018, representing an 8 per cent fall compared to that in the same week in 2017. Throughout the year, salmon exports amount 157,278 tonnes, a volume that is 2 per cent lower than that in the same period in 2018 but 9 per cent higher than that in 2017.

The frozen product exports throughout the week were 636 tonnes. This figure is 80 per cent higher than that in the previous week and 35 per cent higher than that in the same week in 2018, representing a 64 per cent growth compared to the same week in 2017. Throughout the year, frozen salmon exports reach 2,956 tonnes, a volume that is 17 per cent lower than that in the same period in the previous year and 28 per cent lower than that in the same period in 2017.
