Increase in imports and the average price of salted herring roe in February

The average price of salted herring roes imports (HS 030520010) was JPY 979/kg in February, up 27% on that of January and 6% on that of February 2018. During the first two months, it averaged JPY 952/kg, up 3% on that of the same period in the previous year.

Imports of salted of herring roes (or dried), HS 030520010, reached 144 tonnes in the month analysed, worth JPY 141 million CIF at Japanese Customs, 6 times greater volume and 8 times higher value (driven by imports from Russia), than those imported in January and 3% less in volume and 6% more in value than in February 2018.

In the first two months of the year, imports totalled 166 tonnes and JPY 158 million, down 40% in volume and 39% in value on those of the same period in 2018.
The main supplier of herring roes of HS 030520010 was Russia during the period, with 113 tonnes and JPY 102 million.
