A powerful swimmer against the current
The Norwegian saithe is distinguished from other species by the line in the skin that runs longitudinally on both loins. It is a fish that swims against the current in the waters of Norway, just north of the Arctic Circle, where the strongest tidal current on the planet is found: the eddies of the Strait of Saltstraumen, so it develops powerful muscles. Thus, its meat is lean and has a firm texture and light gray color.
The Norwegian saithe is especially rich in protein, vitamins D and B12 and also provides selenium and iodine, essential for a proper functioning of the metabolism.
It has a characteristic flavor, which differentiates it from other white fish and makes it appropriate to combine it with strong flavors, and in Spain it can be found fresh at a very affordable price, which makes it a very good option for everyday cooking. day in classic preparations such as the oven, battered, grilled, steamed or in stews.
In addition, it comes from fishing companies certified with the blue MSC seal, which indicates that it is wild-caught fish certified as sustainable, and also has the guarantee of products from the Norwegian Sea.
