Total fresh and frozen tuna imports fall in January

Total fresh and frozen tuna imports in January were 11,792 t for a Japanese custom value of JPY 7,160 million. These figures represent an 18 per cent drop in volume and a 19 per cent fall in value compared to December while in relation to January last year, these imports grow by 38 per cent in volume and by 33 per cent in value.
Imports of fresh tuna during the month were 431 t with a value in the Japanese customs amounting to JPY 799 million, a figure that is 67 per cent inferior in volume and 61 per cent lower in value compared to the previous month and 54 per cent less in volume and 38 per cent in value compared to January 2018.

In relation to frozen tuna, its imports during the informed month were 10,877 tonnes with a value in Japanese customs amounting to JPY 5,839 million.
These figures represent a drop of 17 per cent in volume and of 14 per cent in value in relation to last month while these figures grew by 43 per cent in volume and in value compared to January 2018.
