SeaPak joins the Global Seafood Initiative platform

SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Company a leading firm in the retail market of frozen shrimp in the United States, has joined the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) platform as a funding partner.
GSSI is a worldwide platform including seafood firms, NGOs, experts and government as well as non-government organisations working to obtain more sustainable seafood around the world.
“SeaPak’s new partnership with the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative extends our legacy of leadership in sustainable seafood, and we look forward to participating in this global effort to see that greater amounts of sustainable seafood are available to everyone,” pointed out Megan Grinstead, Director of Marketing, SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Company.
The executive stressed that her company’s mission is to conserve natural resources, deliver the highest-quality, most-sustainable products available, and drive positive change in the industry, to ensure seafood may be enjoyed for generations to come.
For his part, Reed Smith, Managing Director of Seafood Procurement , SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Company, stated that GSSI’s unique approach to assessing seafood certification – for both aquaculture and wild-caught – aligns with SeaPak’s history of driving progress in sustainable seafood.
“We are firm believers in upholding and surpassing certification requirements, and we demand our procurement partners and suppliers also meet the highest social and environmental standards. Conservation in every aspect of the seafood industry – from the fisheries to the oceans – is a priority for SeaPak, for the protection of the environment and the preservation of marine diversity,” Smith highlighted.
