The Norwegian Pelagic Fishing Course in Week 17
NORWAY
Monday, May 03, 2021, 21:00 (GMT + 9)
- New good week on the sandeel field with almost 38,000 tonnes in the registration journal
- Some mackerel has also been fished for both fresh and frozen use and a vessel has fished out at the edge.
Sandeel:
The Klondyke field also delivered this week for the sandeel fleet. With the exception of Monday and Wednesday this week, there has been consistently good fishing. The feedback from the field has generally been good in the morning and in the morning, and less catch in the evening. The fleet still trawls pelagically and it seems to be a success to avoid bycatch of other species and we get good feedback from the landing controls.
The total quantity reported that week 37880 tons, where it is, as said mainly Klondyke there is a fishing. Of the catches sold, 5 have gone to Denmark, three have gone north to Vedde while the rest have been delivered in Karmsund and Egersund.

Of the total quota of 110,000, 79,255 have been registered so far, leaving 30,745 of the quota. There are 7 vessels that have completed this year's quota of a total of 27 vessels that have been allocated a sandeel quota. At the time of writing, there are 12 vessels active on Klondyke and of these, 5 are potentially on their last voyage. Worse weather has been reported on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, but we still see the possibility that the majority of the current sandeel quota has been fished up during the coming weeks. The herring team also has no information on whether there will be an increase in the quota at this time.
Industrial fishing:
It is also one of the vessels that have finished sandeel fishing that has started mixed fishing on the edge. Here we have had 1 registration with 105 tonnes of Norway Pout, 50 tonnes Blue Whiting of and 25 tonnes of Herring smelts.
Mackerel:
Fishing for mackerel for fresh use is also underway and we have had 4 registrations from 4 vessels this week, the total quantity is 4 tonnes and fishing has taken place in Hardanger and Nord-Hordaland. There is also a vessel that has reported 22 tonnes of mackerel for freezing.
