Salmon Industry Association (SalmonChile) board appointed civil engineer Arturo Clement as the new president of this organization.
Clement has a career of more than 30 years in the industry and will replace Felipe Sandoval, who leaves office after four years leading the union, starting on January 2, 2018.
The new SalmonChile president held positions in several companies, including Multiexport Foods, of which he is also a founder, DataSalmon and Ictio Biotechnologies, Diario Financiero reported.
"I am very grateful for the trust placed on me by the SalmonChile companies," Clement said when confirming his appointment, and stressed the need to build a salmon industry that is socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.
"We must continue progressing in the regulatory areas and strengthening the institutional framework of the sector as well as continuing to highlight the importance of the salmon industry for Chile," he added. "We must project the industry in the long term, work on innovation and development and continue to conquer new markets. We have an industry with a lot of potential and we must capitalize on it. "
