So far, about 20 Vietnamese enterprises have exported Pangasius to Mexico market. In particular, focusing on the provinces of Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Ben Tre. 100% of Pangasius products are exported to Mexico in frozen form and cut into frozen segments (under HS 030462).

Three years ago, Pangasius export value to Mexico increased positively. This market is assessed as a potential export market for Vietnamese pangasius export enterprises. However, in the past 2 years, Pangasius export to this market has not been as expected, the average export price of Pangasius to Mexico market is from 1.25 - 3.15 USD / kg. This export price is lower than many major export markets.

According to the latest statistics of ITC, in 2018, frozen pangasius (HS code 030462) and frozen tilapia (HS code 030461) were the two products with the highest import value in the import structure of white meat fish products of Mexico, however, frozen Chinese tilapia fill up to more than 60% of the total import of Mexican whitefish.
