In this way, it also seeks to set precedents for future technical and financial cooperation for the benefit of thousands of Salvadoran fishermen and fish farmers.
This first official Chinese mission to the country is the result of the work made by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), Orestes Ortez, during his visit to the Asian country last September, in the framework of recently established diplomatic relations between both nations. On that occasion, the minister met with his counterparts of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
"We can develop a deep cooperation between the two countries to give the sector a dimension that has never had and that should be for the benefit of the country and of course for the mutual benefit of the two countries," said the head of Agriculture.
For her part, the Chinese ambassador, Ou Jianhong, congratulated the minister and the team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for the organization of this meeting, which will allow the coordination of cooperation between both States.

During the first day, the specialists met with the technical team of the Center for Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CENDEPESCA).
During his presentation, the director of CENDEPESCA, Gustavo Portillo, highlighted the projects implemented by the Government to strengthen this productive and economic activity in the country. In that sense, he gave some details about the Family Aquaculture program. He reported that during the last four years of government, the MAG has delivered 2,000 modules for the cultivation of tilapia, which has reached a production of 240 tonnes per year. He also explained that this initiative has benefited more than 3,000 families nationwide. He also informed the Asian delegation that there are 29,000 fishermen and fish farmers in El Salvador.
Within the framework of this official visit, different technical work tours are scheduled to know in situ the situation of the fishing and aquaculture activity, as well as the scope of the different projects that the MAG implements for the benefit of the producers and their families.
