Production of frozen sea fish grows almost 20% in Jan-Nov 2019

Output of finished products and canned herring goods reached 2 850 tonnes (13.1% up), while finished products and canned goods made of other fish stood at 12 885 tonnes (16% up).
The State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine says Ukrainian enterprises in January-November 2019 boosted frozen sea fish output by 19.7% year-over-year (y-o-y), up to 9 285 tonnes.
Over the period under review, the rise in production of fish products was also observed with regard to other commodity items, the agency's press service said on January 15, referring to the State Statistics Service.
In January-November 2019, Ukrainian companies produced 3 221 tonnes of fish fillet and fish meat (fresh or chilled), which was 35.3% up y-o-y; 1 264 tonnes of dried, salted, or brined fish fillets (52.3% up); and 554 tonnes of Pacific, Atlantic, and Danube smoked salmon (25.6% up).
Output of finished products and canned herring goods reached 2 850 tonnes (13.1% up); finished products and canned goods made of other fish stood at 12 885 tonnes (16% up), the report said.
In total, Ukraine produced: 3 530 tonnes of dried fish; 2 910 tonnes of salted herring; 1 790 tonnes of salted fish; 3 595 tonns of smoked fish; 11 967 tonnes of finished products and canned sardine, sardinella, anchovy, and sprat products (whole or sliced; in vinegar, oil, marinade, and tomato); 2 070 tonnes of finished products and canned goods made of other fish; and 3 007 tonnes of caviar of other fish.
In 10 months of 2019, Ukraine also exported 349 tonnes of frozen fish worth USD 955 000.
As UNIAN reported earlier, production of fish products in Ukraine in 2018 grew by 5.2%, up to 66 300 tonnes.
