The Asian market accounted for 96% of Ukraine's fresh fish shipments abroad
The State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine says Ukrainian enterprises in January-November 2019 boosted fresh fish exports by 39% in monetary terms year-over-year (y-o-y), up to USD 383 800.
At the same time, the market of Asian countries accounted for 96% of all supplies of Ukrainian fresh fish in monetary terms (USD 369 300), while the major buyers were Iraq (109.5 tonnes worth USD 185 000) and Turkey (43 tonnes worth USD 183 000), the agency's press service said on January 23, referring to the State Statistics Service.
Over the period under review, Ukrainian enterprises shipped 155 200 tonnes of fresh and chilled fish abroad: carp (almost 110 tonnes worth USD 186 000), turbots (42.6 tonnes worth USD 180 500), and the Sparidae or sea breams (1.4 tonnes worth USD 7 800). As UNIAN reported earlier, commercial fish and seafood catch in Ukraine in 2019 grew by 2.2% against 2018, to 51 000 tonnes.
