Officials from the Port and Airport Research Unit (UIPA) and the Regional Canine Training Center (CRAC) found 10 bricks of cocaine containing 9,960 grams in a container loaded with frozen shrimp.
The “Sovereign” anti-narcotics operation was carried out in the afternoon of Tuesday, January 21, during a drug control that UIPA and CRAC agents carried out in one of the port yards, where containers scheduled to board the Clifford Maersk ship, which was about to set sail for Spain, were in storage.
The can King, specialized in detecting substances subject to control that accompanied the agents, alerted to the substance on the container's cooling panels, and the anti-narcotics agents proceeded to perform a visual and manual inspection, which led them to find the 10 packages with the alkaloid that the drug trafficking mafias had camouflaged to take them away by sea.
The case was brought to the attention of the Prosecutor's Office, while the agents of the Information Unit of Ports and Airports (UIPA) began with the investigations and follow-up of the case in order to detain those responsible allegadly involved in the crime of international drug trafficking.
