Landing of fishery resources grew 81.4% in September

The result was favored, mainly, by the positive performance of the extractive activity oriented to Direct Human Consumption (DHC), which advanced by 81.5%.
The extractive fishing activity experienced an important growth of 81.4% in September, reaching a landing volume of 156.4 thousand metric tons compared to 82.2 thousand tons registered in the same period but in 2019, said the Minister of Production, José Salardi Rodriguez.
He explained that the result was favored, mainly, by the positive performance of the extractive activity oriented to Direct Human Consumption (CHD), which advanced by 81.5%.
Salardi said that the progress registered for the fourth consecutive month in the Fishing Sector responds this time to a higher landing of anchovy (+ 71.3%), squid (+ 136.3%), horse mackerel (+ 335.0%), bonito (+ 301.3%) and mackerel (+ 1,247.3%), among other species of Direct Human Consumption.
"This in turn influenced the good performance of all utilization items, such as: canned (+ 126.8%), frozen (+ 124.8%), cured (+ 29.2%) and fresh (+ 13.8%)" he added.
On the other hand, he explained that there were no landings of anchovy destined for Indirect Human Consumption due to the absence of catches of the resource in the southern zone of the Peruvian coast due to the unfavorable climatic and oceanographic conditions.

Economic value of catches
The head of the Production sector said that the extraction value of fishing resources increased 7.3% in September, compared to the same period last year, and reached revenues of S / 180 million.
He highlighted that the figure was reached due to the increase in the value of the fishing resources destined for Direct Human Consumption, highlighting the canning (+ 126.8%), cured (+ 10.8%), frozen (+ 5.7%) and in-condition items. fresh (+ 4.1%).
