Grupo Calvo has launched the first canned tropical tuna with MSC seal that is marketed in Spain.
The tuna that contains this product belongs to the species tuna skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) and it is caught with fishing rods, an artisanal and selective method that makes it possible the individual tuna catch.

The MSC certification guarantees that the tuna has been caught complying with the criteria of responsible and respectful fishing with the environment, and that, in addition, it is completely traceable to its origin.
The product offers other additional values to the consumer, among which Calvo stresses that it is conserved with organic extra virgin olive oil and certified by the Regulatory Council of Organic Agriculture of Galicia (CRAEGA). A guarantee that proves its organic production in Galicia naturally, through chemical-free environmentally-friendly product farming.
In addition, each can contains the right amount of oil, which avoids the waste that occurs with the practice of draining the oil before consumption. The result is a healthy and sustainable product, ready to open and serve.

According to the company, "the Eco Tuna MSC is an example of the effort that Grupo Calvo has been making in recent years to promote the responsible management and sustainability of the raw materials it uses, especially that of the tuna, meeting at the same time the growing awareness of consumers towards ecological and sustainable products."
This new product is part of the Ecoline range of Calvo Group, which has already launched salads, mussels and mackerel on the market, and which in the coming months could add other canned products.
