Russian Fishery Company (RFC) has completed the preparatory stage for the construction of the pollock fish processing plant on the territory of the Nadezhdinskaya PDA, in Primorsky Krai, part of the Far Eastern Federal District.
To celebrate the foundation of the new plant, a time capsule was laid, an event attended by representatives of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Administration of Primorsky Krai, the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the RFC management.
“The “Russian pollock” project has entered the main phase, has begun to take on real shape,” commented Fedor Kirsanov, RFC CEO.
The executive explained that soon a modern production will appear at the construction site, which he considered as an opportunity to increase jobs in the district and for consumers to receive high-quality products made in Russia from Russian raw materials, and the budget will receive additional tax revenues.
It is planned that the first phase of the fish processing plant with a capacity of more than 100 tons of finished products per day will be put into operation no later than 2021.
RFC plans to increase the capacity of the plant by about 20 per cent after 2021 and expand the product line by producing products in the categories "ready to cook" and "ready to eat".
The main products of the first stage of the plant will be pollock fillet and mince. After commissioning of the second stage, it is planned to master the production of high value-added products, including “ready for eat” category, for the Russian market, as well as exports to China and Asian markets.
The project "Russian pollock" is implemented as part of the state programme to support the construction of fishing vessels and fish processing enterprises with quotas for the harvesting of aquatic biological resources provided for investment purposes.
RFC representatives pointed out that total investment in construction will amount to RUB 1.5 billion (USD 22.5 million) and that after commissioning of the Russian Pollock plant, RFC will receive additional quotas for the extraction of 14.5 thousand tons of pollock and herring.
