Vladivostok — Russian Fishery Company (RFC), one of the global leaders in pollock harvesting, reported its 2025 operating results, highlighting growth in production volumes, expanded output of value-added products, and increased exports to Asian markets.

According to Konstantin Globenko, CEO of Russian Fishery Company LLC, the company’s strategy in 2025 focused on production performance, fleet modernization, and development of processed pollock products for domestic and international markets.

From Raw Material Exports to Value-Added Products

In 2025, RFC harvested more than 423,000 tons of aquatic bioresources. Of this total, pollock accounted for more than 412,000 tons, representing approximately 20% of Russia’s total pollock catch.

The company continued expanding production of value-added products:

  • Pollock fillet production exceeded 37,000 tons, up 71% year-on-year.

  • Surimi production reached 60,000 tons, an increase of 49% compared with 2024.

  • Pollock roe harvest totaled more than 7,000 tons.

These are the 4 most modern ships in the fleet

All RFC super trawlers ranked among the top ten vessels in the Far Eastern basin for pollock roe production.

On the domestic market, sales of value-added products increased by 27% in 2025. Shipments of pollock roe rose 2.5 times, fillet sales grew by 30%, and surimi sales increased by 21% compared with 2024. The company stated that it continues to expand pollock product offerings across retail and HoReCa channels.

Expansion in Asian and Emerging Markets

Exports remained a key driver of growth. RFC expanded its presence in China, South Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

In 2025:

  • Surimi sales to Asian countries (excluding China) more than doubled.

  • Pollock fillet sales to Asia increased by 30%.

  • Shipments to Mexico rose nearly fivefold.

  • Exports to Uzbekistan reached 5,000 tons, marking a new market entry.

China accounted for approximately 35% of RFC’s total exports in 2025. Overall sales to China increased by 17%, while surimi sales to the country grew by 60% year-on-year. RFC began supplying surimi to China in 2022, and by the end of 2025 volumes had increased sixfold.

To promote pollock roe consumption, RFC partnered with processor Putina in Russia to introduce packaged roe products for federal retail chains. In China, the company collaborated with chefs and food service partners to develop menu applications for pollock roe across various meal formats.

Industry Partnerships and Promotion Initiatives

In 2025, RFC held the third O!Mega Taste festival, featuring more than 100 new pollock-based recipes presented across restaurants, retail chains, and public venues. The event included a new O!Mega Breakfasts format focused on pollock roe.

The company reported partnerships with food producers and retailers including Meridian, Agama, KVEN, Perekrestok, Auchan, Pyaterochka, O!Key, Samberi, and the Fish Union.

Fleet Modernization and Shipbuilding Program

RFC’s fleet modernization program continued in 2025 with the expansion of its ST-192 super trawler series. These vessels are designed to process up to 100% of catch onboard, reducing the share of unprocessed raw material exports.

Construction of the seventh and eighth ST-192 vessels began at the Admiralty Shipyards in Saint Petersburg. In December 2025, acceptance certificates were signed for two super trawlers — Kapitan Yunak and Mekhanik Shcherbakov — which are scheduled to begin fishing operations in 2026.

Workforce Development and Training

RFC reported cooperation agreements with four industry universities and five colleges. Its scholarship program includes vessel-based internships with assigned mentors.

In February 2025, the company opened a Competence Development Center at the Russian Pollock plant. The center provides training for Baader mechanics, combining classroom instruction with practical training on operational production lines. The company stated that the program is intended to reduce training time and reliance on external technical specialists.

Environmental and Social Projects

In 2025, RFC conducted the sixth season of its Clean Shore environmental initiative. Volunteers cleaned more than 1,000 meters of coastline at Shchitovaya Bay in Vladivostok. Since the program’s launch in 2020, participants have removed over 30 tons of waste.

The company also supported the city’s first children’s EcoQuest in Vladivostok and continued cooperation with Boarding School No. 1 for children with hearing impairments, equipping a photo and animation studio with professional production equipment. In 2025, two student works received top awards at the international You Are Not Alone film festival, and students earned recognition at the regional stage of the Professionals competition in photography.

RFC also reported ongoing support for industry veterans and local sports initiatives, including the Dynamo basketball team.
