Magazine Puerto reported that yesterday the Argentine Naval Prefecture was notified that the ships Gaucho Grande of the firm Vicarp and Florida Blanca belonging to Desafío have been assigned fishing clearance for illegally fishing for golden kingklip.
They landed 47 and 70 tonnes respectively when the maximum allowed is 10 tonnes; the volume captured shows directed fishing for golden kingklip, which has been banned since 2013 due to the risk of collapse.
It is still necessary to proceed in the same way with the ship Malvinas Argentinas of Grupo Moscuzza and Antonino, belonging to Agliano Group, which has just been sanctioned for unloading 47 tonnes of golden kingklip.
The seizure of the goods or the payment of the market value could be considered; the captain could also be sanctioned.
The Federal Fisheries Law in its Article 21 establishes that it is prohibited to perform overfishing or depredation of the living resources of the aquatic environment; carry out fishing activities without permission, allocation of the corresponding quota as well as the violation of the current legal regulations and carry out any practice that threatens the sustainability of the fishing resource and against responsible fishing practices, in compliance with what is determined by the Implementation Authority in consensus with the Federal Fisheries Council.
