Surimi processed products grow 12 per cent in value

In January, the price of surimi processed products exported by China reached an average of USD 3.18 per kg FOB at Customs, 12 per cent more than in the same month last year.

Markets

In January, China exported 11,507 tonnes of surimi processed products procesados and of fish meat, for a FOB value of USD 36,592,000. This figure represents a 3 per cent increase in volume and a 16 per cent growth in value in relation to January 2018.

UNITED STATES

Prices

At North American customs, the average price of the kilogram of Alaska pollock surimi (Theragra chalcograma) (HS 0304991130) in December was USD 2.33/kg. This figure is 9 per cent inferior to that from November but 12 per cent superior to that from December 2017. Throughout the year, the price amounted to an average of USD 2.57/kg, 12 per cent more than in 2017.

Markets

During the informed month, American exports of Alaska pollock surimi reached 1,124 tonnes for a value amounting to USD 2,625,000, which is 73 per cent lower in volume and 75 per cent in value than in the previous month and 64 per cent lower in volume and 59 per cent lower in value compared to December last year.

During the year, exports reached 185,793 tonnes for USD 478,234,000, a volume that is similar and 12 per cent higher in value than in the previous year.

In the year, Japan was the destination of 74,667 tonnes for USD 189,934,000, followed by Korea with 67,434 tonnes.
