Carrefour has bought 11,800 tons of fish in the last year, which represents 35% more than the previous year. The company maintains business relationships with more than 60 local fish markets that supply their assortment to chain stores throughout Spain every day.
"Every day, our buyers select the best fish and seafood from the main fish markets on our coasts, so that you can enjoy a taste fresh from the sea, always choosing the best items to offer you with all the guarantees of freshness and quality. And always at the best price", said Carrefour Spain in a statement
The distribution company is committed to small and medium-sized companies and to traditional crafts and techniques, as they allow it to supply its centers with nearby, fresh and sustainable products. In this sense, the hook hake from the Lonja de Pasajes can be found in less than 24 hours in chain stores throughout the national territory.
Local agri-food companies are a key part of the business model for Carrefour, within its objective of being the benchmark distribution company for the food transition.
