The Kamchatka Anadromous Commission has officially ratified the schedule for the 2026 Pacific salmon and char harvesting season. East Coast Launch and Inland Regulations

The season begins on the East Coast , where the Aleutian District and the Kamchatka River basin within the Ust-Kamchatsky District will lead the charge on June 1. They will be followed shortly by Kamchatka Bay on June 4 .

In the Karaginskaya subzone , specific timelines have been established for the north:

  • Vyvenka and Apuka river basins: June 8

  • Olyutorsky Bay : June 10

  • West Bering Sea zone and general Karaginsky District : June 15

Further south in the Petropavlovsk-Komandorsky subzone , the Kronotsky Bay (specifically RLU No. 262-267 ) opens June 7. The Bystrinsky and Milkovsky districts are slated for June 21 , though specific industrial plots ( RLU No. 876 and 893 ) must wait until August 25 .

For indigenous communities in the Milkovsky District , traditional fishing is restricted to specific windows: June 21 to July 10 , August 1 to 20 , and August 30 to September 10. Meanwhile, the Avacha River schedule remains fluid, with the commission planning two 7-day windows in late July and late August depending on the strength of the fish run.

West Coast Strategy and Conservation Measures

The West Coast rollout is generally more conservative to ensure sustainable spawning. Most areas in the West Kamchatka and Kamchatka-Kuril subzones, including the Sobolevsky , Penzhinsky , and Ust-Bolysheretsky districts, will begin their primary harvest on July 11 .

Specific exceptions include:

  • Tigil District : Water bodies open June 20 , with major river basins like the Tigil , Napana , and Kovran opening June 25 .

  • Ozernaya River : Harvesting begins July 1 .

  • Ozernaya Basin Conservation : Fishing in the sea area from RLU No. 189 to 209 is strictly conditional, starting no earlier than July 22 and only after 500,000 sockeye salmon spawners have successfully entered the basin.

This precision-managed approach by the Anadromous Commission aims to balance the economic vitality of Kamchatka Krai with the essential preservation of the region's world-famous salmon populations.

The Kamchatka Anadromous Fish Commission has officially approved the 2026 fishing schedule for Pacific salmon and red-spotted salmon. Following a high-level meeting in May , officials developed a phased implementation plan for commercial and conventional fishing operations, with the first fishing nets expected to be cast as early as June 1 .

East Coast Launch and Inland Regulation

The fishing season will begin on the east coast , with the Aleutian district in the Ust-Kamchatsk region and the Kamchatka River basin leading the way on June 1. This will be followed by the opening of the Gulf of Kamchatka on June 4 .

In the Karaginskaya district , a specific timetable has been set for the northern region:

  • Vivenka and Apka River basins: June 8

  • Oryutorsky Bay : June 10

Specific exceptions include:

  • Tigir District : Waterways will open on June 20 , and major river basins such as the Tigir , Napana and Kovland will open on June 25 .
