Stef and Express Maree have announced the settlement of a 100 per cent cession agreement of the company Express Maree to Stef, an operation that will allow the latter to expand its range of services for seafood and strengthen its operational coverage in France.
The agreement will come into force on July 2.
Express Maree was founded in 1948 and specializes in transport and logistics of seafood products both in France and internationally. This historic and main business today represents 75 per cent of its activity. The company has 450 employees and 9 platforms in France.
Stef has been present in this activity for more than 40 years in France and in other European countries. In 2017, the group created a business unit dedicated to seafood, Stef Seafood, to better meet the demands of this specialized market. This division has 700 employees and 17 platforms located in France and Italy.
This operation allows the Stef Seafood network to offer its customers and partners of Seafoodways (the first European transport and logistics network of seafood products) a complete coverage of the French territory with the integration, from now on, of the south-west regions and Languedoc-Roussillon.
"The acquisition of Express Maree, Stef's historical partner, is motivated by the great complementarity of the two companies and our teams. With this emblematic external growth operation, the Stef Group reaffirms its strategy of growth and specialization in the seafood market," said Michel Fons, director of the seafood business unit of the Stef Group. "The exchange of our best practices will provide our customers with first-class know-how. In addition, it will complement our presence in France and accelerate our development dynamics in a demanding market."
Julien Raynaud, CEO of Express Maree, added: "We are delighted to support ourselves in a large group like Stef, with whom we have worked closely for many years, particularly with the European network of seafood collection and distribution in Europe, Seafoodways . It is the natural sequence that provides our customers with a guarantee of continuity of a quality service through a well-known European network".
Julien Raynaud has become a member of the Stef Seafood Steering Committee in his capacity as General Manager of Operations for Express Maree.
