Mexico City - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) reported that the capture of hake from the North Pacific was approved as a new fishery, of which, initially, 80 permits will be granted for its sustainable production in the states of Baja California, Sonora and Sinaloa.

The Subcommittee on Responsible Fisheries, which is part of the National Consultative Committee on Agrifood Standardization (CCNNA) of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), unanimously approved the inclusion in the Official Mexican Fishing and Aquaculture Standards of hake removal (Merluccius productus) of the North Pacific, whose fishery is considered new and in which it is intended to grant 80 permits for its production in the states of Baja California, Sonora and Sinaloa.
The National Commissioner of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Raúl Elenes Angulo, said that the meeting of the Subcommittee on Responsible Fisheries is an opportunity for authorities and producers to ratify the approval of existing norms in the National Fisheries Charter and that they have been published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
