78.18% of the anchoveta fishing quota was caught for the north-central area of the littoral

During the exploratory fishing and the first fishing season in the north-central area, between April 28 and June 18, an unloading of 1,641 million tons of anchoveta was registered, 78.18% of the quota of capture assigned , informed the Ministry of Production (Produce).
The total maximum limit of allowable anchovy catch for indirect human consumption established by Produce for the first fishing season 2019 is 2.1 million tonnes.
Anchovy was unloaded at a rate of 43,000 tons per day between April and May, reaching 25,000 tons in June, due to anomalous waves that have been registered in the last month.
He also pointed out that the ports where the highest volumes of discharge were registered were Malabrigo, Chimbote, Paracas, Callao, Coishco and Tambo de Mora; and that the average incidence of juveniles captured during this period is 9.71%, a figure that is below 13%, projected by Imarpe.
On the other hand, the sector indicated that during the first fishing season there have been 446 supervisions in fishing vessels, in order to verify that the development of extractive activities is carried out in authorized areas, with correct biometric sampling and without discarding the resource Sea.
Produce noted that with the information obtained through the application "Bitácora Electrónic", it was possible to warn of the presence of smaller size specimens in some areas, so that 80 fishing zones were pre-emptively closed.
Suspended fishing areas were mainly found in front of Cañete (Lima), Puerto Caballas (Ica), Isla Lobos de Tierra (Lambayeque), Tambo de Mora (Ica), Bayóvar (Piura) and Malabrigo (La Libertad).
