Fish producer organizations receive EUR 1.5 million in aid for marketing plans

The Official Gazette of Galicia publishes this Tuesday the regulatory bases and the 2019 call for the granting of aid to fish producer organizations and associations of fish producer organizations, with the aim of supporting the preparation and application oftheir production and marketing plans. The Ministry of Marine Affairs of the Xunta de Galicia allocates to this line of contributions just over EUR 1.5 million, co-financed with the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).

The Galician organizations of fish producers and the associations of producer organizations registered in the Register of Organizations of Fish Producers and Associations of Producer Organizations will be able to benefit from these subsidies.

This line of support for the production and marketing plans aims to subsidize the investments made during the period of execution of the plan, between January 1 and December 31, 2018, as well as those derived from the preparation thereof. Among the expenses likely to have contributions are those of personnel, material, equipment or travel linked to the development of the plan.

Those interested in requesting assistance can consult the requirements and the necessary documentation in the order published by the DOG today. The deadline for submission of applications will be one month as of tomorrow. The submission of applications must be made by electronic means through the standard forms available at the electronic headquarters of the Xunta de Galicia.

Producer organizations

The current European regulatory framework reinforces the activities of professional fishery and aquaculture organizations and provides the necessary financial support to enable them to play a more important role in fisheries management, exercising their fishing and aquaculture activities in a sustainable and improving the commercialization of products.

Their production and commercialization plans include, among other aspects, a production program for the species captured or reared, a strategy to adapt the quantity, quality and presentation of the offer to the demands of the market and special preventive measures to adapt the offer of species that present marketing difficulties during the year.
