Press release S.I.E.T. : the frente amplio and democracy tailored for them

In a new attack on democracy, the 'Frente Amplio party' after having lost in the vote to eliminate trawling, has once again entered a project to eliminate this fishing gear.

It is a lack of respect for their peers, who voted against the project, the industrial fishing workers, the country and democracy. Democracy that, when it is in favor of their petty and selfish interests, they accept it and when it is not, they ignore it and insist on a nefarious, populist project and from now on not at all democratic. They have never listened to the workers of the industry, who have given valid arguments and more than enough to be able to continue working in a highly productive, regulated and sustainable sector.

They have already lost three thousand jobs with the elimination of cuttlefish fishing, without giving the slightest social support to the workers that they themselves left unemployed, today more than twelve hundred valuable jobs related to trawling, only in the Biobío region. They cannot be believed that they are “working” for the sustainability of the resources, when they have not said a single word about illegal fishing, which takes place mainly in the Maule Region, according to the countless seizures of illegally extracted common hake, curiously in the region that these same "honorable" represent.

It is a shame for us workers, that after so many years of struggle to regain democracy and to obtain a dignified, stable and formal job, the Broad Front arrives to mop the floor with us and that it tries to take away our legitimate right to work. in this area that for more than sixty years has been the economic support for our families, for the region and for the country.

Industrial fishermen are worth as much and the same as any artisanal fisherman, since we are all legitimate workers.
