Dongwon Industries, the country's largest deep-sea fishing company, has launched today its latest purse seiner, Jubilee, to modernize its increasingly aging fleet.
The 2,200-ton vessel, launched to coincide with and celebrate the company's 50th founding anniversary, will carry a crew of 30 and fish for tuna in the South Pacific for a year.

Since July 2014, Dongwon has added four new purse seiners in order to bolster its fishing operations.
Korea's declining fishing capacity mainly to its aging vessels and that Dongwon has been taking the lead in modernizing its deep-sea fishing fleet.
The latest ship is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as rapid cooling facilities, the company said.

Dongwon Industries was established in April 1969 as a Korea-based company engaged in the provision of marine products. The Company operates its business through three main divisions: fisheries division, logistics division and other business division. Its fisheries division catches and distributes tunas and other marine products. Its logistics division is engaged in the provision of processing, transportation and distribution of marine products. Its other business division engages in the rental business.
